The Secretary's Desk

Brethren, as the W Master reported above; we have been through a lot this year.  Always keep one thing in mind; we all took an Oath of Brotherly Love and Friendship to each other; And to act for the good of the Lodge.  So, with the holidays fast approaching, I call on you to put aside personal inclinations and begin anew with a firm focus on what our fraternity stands for and what is best for it.  When good men put their minds together almost anything is possible.

Additionally, the W Master  is absolutely correct.  We all have a voice in the conduct of our lodge.  All brethren should come to our next stated meeting and vote.  To paraphrase Teddy Roosevelt who said; “Either  lead, follow, or do the honorable thing.” Like him, I charge you to give your full support and make things the way they should be; or,  well, you know.

I will give a briefing about endowed membership with annual installment payments during our December stated meeting.  Several members have already begun the process of becoming endowed members.  This is one way in which we can give back to our lodge and fraternity in perpetuity.  If you are considering it and you act now, you can save a lot of money.

Your 2012 dues ($75.00) should be in to the secretary as of 01 Jan 2012. Please forward your check as soon as possible so I can get the dues cards mailed using the bulk rate.  This alone will save our lodge more than $100.00.  Thank you  for helping us save.

I consider my service this year as your acting secretary to be a highlight of my Masonic journey.  My deepest heartfelt thanks to all whom have assisted, guided, re-focused  and flat corrected me during my learning.  It was my pleasure to serve and will be my continued pleasure should you call upon me in the future.

Emmett P. Starnes,  Secretary 2011
