Dr. Wallace Everett Caldwell

Past Master, Past Grand Master, Jospeh Montfort Medal Awardee, Author, Professor of Ancient History at UNC Chapel Hill

Dr. Wallace Everett Caldwell was an Honorary Member of Phoenix Lodge No. 8.

 

He served as the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of North Carolina A.F. & A.M. for the year 1950.  He received the Joseph Montfort Medal for distinguished service to Freemasonry in 1952.  In 1954 He was presented the Pierpont Edwards Medal from the Grand Lodge of Connecticut and the Josiah Hayden Drummond Medal from the Grand Lodge of Maine.

 

Dr. Caldwell was a Professor of Ancient History at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  He was a well known public speaker and prolific author of books on history and ancient civilizations.  A volume of his collected Masonic speeches was published by the Grand Lodge of North Carolina A.F. & A.M. under the title The Rock: Masonic Addresses of Wallace E. Caldwell.
